For my friend's birthday, we decided to spend the night at Ada Beach, a beautiful spot that we first visited about a month ago.
To get there, my friends and I FINALLY took tro-tros, a form of very cheap transportation. They are these vans that go around their given routes, similar to how a bus might work. They are hard to figure out at first though, and I have had multiple friends who have traveled hours away from where they intended after getting on the wrong one. I enjoyed the tro-tro a lot though, and using them made me feel a lot more integrated with the locals.
We were dropped off at a boat that then took us to the strip of beach where we spent the night. The island-type piece of land was nestled between the Volta River and the Atlantic Ocean. We spent our time there relaxing, eating fresh coconuts, dancing with the local children, and sleeping in a hut. It was so nice to wake up in the morning and be able to walk out onto the beach and into the ocean. .It made the hours of travel the day before feel far away and well worth it.
I can't wait to go back!
